4、t approach to disseminating Chinese culture, therefore, ithas been attached more and more importance to by domestic banks and scholarsincreasingly. Chinese bank profiles are brimmed with Chinese culture which Chinesecust
5、omers have much acquaintance with. As a result, self-evident information in bankprofiles is inclined to be omitted, which undoubtedly constitutes cultural default for foreigncustomers belonged to English culture. In orde
6、r to make target readers acquire accurate andcoherent understanding of bank profiles, it is of great necessity for translators tocompensate cultural default in C-E translation of bank profiles. English version of bankpro
7、file is created for overseas customers, therefore, translators are supposed to take targetreaders, their appreciation and reception into account in compensating cultural default. AndReceptional aesthetics is exactly a re
8、ader-centered literary criticism theory, puttingemphasis on readers, their reception and response of texts, which not only inspirestranslators to take readers into consideration in translation but also provides a new res
9、earchperspective along with theoretical guidance for cultural default and compensation strategiesin C-E translation of bank profiles.Based on receptional aesthetics, the thesis primarily probes into cultural default andc
10、ompensation strategies in C-E translation of Chinese bank profiles. To start with, itexplores specific cultural default and figures out cultural default in politics, language,history and society bringing obstacles for tr
11、anslation of bank profile. And then under thedirection of receptional aesthetics, the thesis puts forwards four principles of compensatingcultural default, in accordance with the four compensation principles, eight compe
12、nsationstrategies are found out in the end, which is expected to offer innovative instruction tofuture relevant studies.Chapter one is the introduction, including research background, research significance,research quest
13、ions, research methodology and the organization of the thesis. Chapter two isthe literature review, containing researches on the translation of Chinese bank profiles,researches on cultural default at home and abroad as w
14、ell as researches on receptionalaesthetics applied to translation at home and abroad. Chapter three is the theoreticalframework, comprising a survey of receptional aesthetics, a general introduction to fourimportant noti
15、ons such as horizon of expectation, fusion of horizon, aesthetic distance andresponse-inviting structure along with the exploration of receptional aesthetics applied totranslation of bank profiles. Chapter four expounds
