3、.EspeciallybecauseoftheirinnovativedriveSMEsarebecominganincreasinglyimptantfactinthecompetitivenessofnationalregionaleconomies.ToovercomethelimitationsofregionalmarketsspecializedSMEsareincreasinglytryingtopositionthems

6、largescaleenterprisescanalsoexplaintheinternationalizationofSMEs.Attemptstoexplaininternationalizationrefertocurrenttheieswhicharebasedontheinternationalizationoflargemultinationalcompanieswhichincreasinglyevadetheirnati

7、onaleconomiesthroughtheirstrategiclocationpolicy(internationalization).AccdingtothisSMEsactintheirprocessesstrategiesofinternationalizationparalleltolargescaleenterprisesareinacomplementaryrelationshipwiththemintheirfeig

8、nbusiness.Fexampleitisimplied(intheyconsciouslychoosealternativewaysintheadaptationdevelopmentoffeignmarketsthechosenstepsofinternationalization(Feldmeier2007).StrategiesfsuccessfulinternationalizationofSMEsInthispaperwe

9、willdeducestrategicfactsofsuccessftheinternationalizationofSMEsbasedoncasestudiesofawkresearchprojectTheintentionofthisempiricalinvestigationwastocompileinfmationontheinternationalizationofsizedenterprisesrelevantfactsco

10、ntributingtotheirsuccess.Inparticulartheircompetitivestrategiesadvantagesprocessesofdevelopmentoffeignmarketsinternationalsupplydistributionchannelsproductiondesignaswellascooperationestablishedwithfeignpartnerswereanaly

11、zed.Ascriteriafthemeasurementofinternationalestablishmentoftheedenterprisesthefollowingindicatswerechosen:internationalmarketleadershipinspecificfieldsofbusinessactivitydistinctivewidelyspreadexptimptactivitieslargerdire

12、ctinvestmentsinthefmofbranchesabroadfeignsubsidiaries.Keepinginmindthatconceptsofsuccesscannotbedirectlycopiedfromanotherenterpriseweintendtoprovideaframewkofientationfthoseenterprisesthatwishtoexptheirbusinessintheinter

13、nationalmarket.Eachenterpriseisacterizedbyauniquehistywhichisreflectedintheircpateculturestaffionhastobetakenintoconsiderationwhenenteringfeignmarkets.Eachenterpriseisdeterminedthroughcertaintempalpaths(Schreyggetal.2003

14、)whichhastobeertainedwhenexaminingcertainbranchesaswellasthetargetcountries.Thismakesitevenmedifficulttoidentifysuccessfactswhicharerelevantacrosscountriesdifferentindustries.Neverthelessthefollowingresultsbasedon“bestpr
