2、theVietnamese government established schools in Guilin and Nanning to train its revolutionarysuccessors. The schools established under the assistance of Guangxi Autonomous Regionduring the 20-plus years from 1951 to 1975
3、 included the Vietnam Yucai schools in Guilinand Nanning and the “9 ·2schools“, the latter of which were moved back to Vietnam in August1975. Educated in those schools were over 10,000 Vietnamese, who in turn had ma
4、de outstandingcontributions to the national salvation wars and socialist construction of Vietnam. Theywere also note worthy figures in the history of Sino-Vietnamese relations.The Vietnam schools aided by Guangxi were th
5、e productions of anti- France war and anti-Ameircan war.They composed an integral part of Sino-Vietnamese educational communicationsand occupied an important position in the history of Sino-Vietnamese relations. Recently
6、,most abroad and domestic researchers focus on the political or economic side of therelationship between these two countries. As a result, the research on the Vietnam schoolsaided by Guangxi has not been involved. This t
7、hesis is to make a research on the Vietnamschools aided by Guangxi by drawing upon the original sources both from the archive bureausof Guangxi Autonomous Region and of Guilin City, the first-hand materials from the orig
8、inalsites of the schools, and the oral interviews with the Chinese staff members in the schools,along with some valuable pictures. The basic theories and methods of history, moderneducation and international relations, a
9、nd Marxist historical materialism are employed astheoretical supports. In this paper, we seek to reveal why the Vietnam schools were foundedunder the assistance of Guangxi, discuss and make a comparison between the condi
10、tions ofthe schools during the two Indo-Chinese wars, explore the schools’ characteristics, anddemonstrate the schools’ position in the Sino-Vietnamese relationship.Deeper investigation into the Vietnam schools aidded by
11、 Guangxi not only can help ustocontinue to improve the work of writing of international relations and the history ofSino-Vietnamese relations,but it will also help promote regional cooperation betweenGuangxi and Vietnam.
12、 Therefore, the paper possesses a strong relevance to the futuredevelopment of Sino-ASEAN relationship. It will help us to maintain friendly generationsrelevance relations between China and Vietnam.This paper is divided
13、into eight parts:The preface describes the historical background of the Vietnam schools aided by Guangxi,reviews relevant literature, highlights the significance of the paper, and outlines theauthor’s research methods.Ch
14、apter One focuses on the preparation and construction of the Vietnam schools aidedby Guangxi. In this part, the reasons why Vietnam selected those places as school sitesand the work China did for the establishment of the
15、 schools will be analyzed.Chapter Two analyzes the situation of the Vietnam schools aided by Guangxi during thefirst Indo-Chinese war. We cover the reasons why the Yucai schools and the special ChineseLanguage schools we
