22、omplexOxideTreatment—Thissurfacetreatmentmethodconsistsofreactingthezincsurfaceinanalkalinesolutioncontainingheavymetalionsfaperiodof5to30sat45to70C(115to160F).Thesurfaceofthezincisconvertedtoanonmetallicamphouscomplexox

23、idecoatingthatinhibitscrosionincreasestheadhesiondurabilityofpaintfinishes.Thetreatmentcanbecarriedoutbyimmersionsprayapplication.5.7MethodGAbrasiveBlastTreatment—Abrasivesweepbrushblastinginaccdancewithproceduresdescrib

24、edinSSPCSP16fthesurfacepreparationmethodsonlyusesarapidnozzlemovementrougheningthegalvanizedsurfaceprofile.Theabrasivematerialmustbechosencarefullytoprovideastrippingactionthatremovestheoxidereactionproductswithoutexcess

25、iveremovalofthezinc.Oneofthematerialssuccessfullyusedisaluminummagnesiumsilicate.Particlesizeshouldbeintherangeof200to500micrometers(8to20mils).OthermaterialsthatcanbeusedaresoftmineralsswithaMohshardnessof5lessganicmedi

26、asuchascncobswalnutshellscundumlimestone.Freactivesteelwithallalloycoatingswhichmayhavecompromisedadhesioneventherelativelylowpressureblastof0.15to0.25MPa(20to40psi)canbetoogreatcausingadhesionproblems.Caremustbetakentol

27、eavezinclayersintact.Oilcontaminationofthecompressedairwilldegradeadhesiontosweepblastedhotdipgalvanizedsurfaces(TestMethodD4285).Careisneededinavertingthistypeofcontamination.Thepurposeofsweepblastingistodefmnotremoveth

28、egalvanizedmetal.AnyareafallingbelowtherequiredzincthicknessbefeaftersweepblastingshallberepairedinaccdancewithPracticeA780.Sweepblastingofzincshallbenotlessthan110m2h(1200ft2h)usingtheseabrasivematerials.Thesubstratesha

29、llbemaintainedatatemperatureofatleast3C(5F)abovethedewpointtemperature.5.8MethodHFluroTitanicZirconicPolymerTreatment—ThistreatmentmethodisachromiumfreeanalogofthesolutionscommonlyemployedunderMethodC.Itconsistsofacombin

30、ationofpoly(acrylicacid)withcopolymerresins0.01to0.1MH2TiF6H2ZrF6.Thesolutioncanbeappliedtothegalvanizedsteelsurfacebyspraydipsqueegeerollercoating.Theexcesssolutionisspunoffotherwiseremovedfromthemetalsurfaceresultingin
