3、e legumes were treated using five doses(600Gy、800Gy、1000Gy、1200Gy、1400Gy)of 60Co-γ radiation, and the mutagenic effects were analyzed. The results were as follows. (1) The germination potential of Melilotoides ruthenicus
4、 ( L.) Sojak cv. Zhilixing after radiation treatment are lower than controls, and this phenomenon was more obvious as the doses of radiation increased, while the radiation treatment had less effects on seed germination r
5、ate. The germination rate under all treatments were more than 90% except the imbibed seeds which irradiated by 1400Gy irradiation. Under the same irradiation doses, the seedling emergence rate of Medicago falcata of imbi
6、bed seeds was significantly lower than the dry seeds, which further shows that imbibed seeds was more sensitive than dry seeds to radiation. (2) The root length, plant height, fresh weight of Melilotoides ruthenicus (L.
7、) Sojak cv.Zhilixing were increased under low doses of radiation, but decreased under high doses of radiation, and the larger the dosage, the more obvious the effect. The first leave of the Medicago falcata L. seed appea
8、red earlier, as the radiation dose decreased. The seedling emergence rate of the legume forages were increased seven months after the radiation. Two mutagenic types, plagiotropic type and prostrate type, of Melilotoides
9、ruthenicus ( L.) Sojak cv. Zhilixing were found. (3) The root tip chromosomes were observed. The chromosome variation of Melilotoides ruthenicus (L.) Sojak cv. Zhilixing was most obviously under 1400Gy; Medicago falcata
10、L. under 1200Gy Gamma irradiation produced more tetraploid tpyes. (4) The photosynthetic capacity of the two legume forages varied after Gamma ray radiation. The photosynthetic capacity of the seedlings germinated from t
11、he dry seeds was decreased. The transpiration rate and stomatal conductance of the two legume forages were significantly inhibited after Gamma irradiation. Key Words:60Co-γ; Melilotoides ruthenicus(L.) Sojak cv.Zhilixi
