2、ionality and surnames of the minorities. The surname information is one important research material on social, historical, cultural and ethnic aspacts of Xixia kingdom and even of Northwest Chin

3、a in 10- 12th century. At the same time, the surname information of the Xixia society is also the true record of the antient accent in northwest China. Firstly, by voice analysis and other t

4、raditional research methods, 33 groups of surnames were extracted from many Chinese literatures.These surnames had different writing in different literatures, These results will constribute to the

5、 using of the interviews . Secondly, by contrasting the literatures of tangut with chinese , the corresponding writing in the Tangut for 38 surnames are found. This make it possible that thes

6、e Tangut surmane can be used in the historical reaserch. In addition,the standard translations about 38 names were given and a number of mistakens were revised. Thirdly, researches were carried

7、 out on the origin of the 8 kinds of surnames of those minorities in Xixia society,which include surnames named after the Dangxiang tribes, surnames named after other minorities tribes, surname

8、s named after the ancestor’s names, surnames named after some place’s names, surnames named after the Solar Terms, surnames inherited the family names of the Xianbei nationality, surnames consis

9、t of the expressions in the Buddhist scriptures,and so on. Fourthly, researches were carried out on classification of the surnames of the Han nationality in Xixia society. These include those c

10、ommon surnames in central China,as well as those surnames of the minorities in antient nothwest China,some of them are originated from the Han people living beyond central China,others are orig

11、inated from those minorities using the surnames of the Han nationality. Fifthly, dozens of surnames of the Xixia descendants were extracted from some literatures.Research on these surnames showes

12、 that Mongolian plays an important role in the surnames’ evolution of the Xixia society. Lastly, researches were carried out on some phenomena reflected from the surnames of the Xixia society,su

13、ch as the integration of various ethnic groups in Xixia society, the ethnic composition of the society, the multi- ethnic principle of the Xixia regime, the universal national intermarriage issu
