2、 is low. The digital camera system with high resolution is very scarced. This type of system is developed mostly out of IEEE-1394, which is both expensive and inconvenient. The publication of USB2.0 specification makes i
3、t possible to design a new digital camera system based on USB2.0. This thesis intends to design this novel system. USB2.0 specification is a new generation of the standard peripheral interface bus, whose digital transfer
4、 speed can reach this level as shift as 480Mbps. Just because of it’s highway characteristic, US2.0 is suitable enough to design this digital camera system with high resolution. This thesis suggests to adopt USB2.0 micro
5、controller EZ-USB-FX2, along with image sensor OV9620 to accomplish this design. And it also implies to utilize the “Quautum FIFO ” qulity of the EZ-USB-FX2 to realize 1.3 Mega-pixel motion image’s collection. It even di
6、scusses specifically the complete design process of this system, including system hardware, device firmware and device driver program. The hardware of this camera system is mainly consisted of subcircuit related to USB2.
7、0 microcontroller and depended upon image sensor , as well as the ones connected with firmware simulation and power system. This thesis attempts to esplain detailedly how to collect and transfer motion images through ima
8、ge sensor’s vertical synchronization output, horizontal reference output and pixel clock output. The device firmware also takes an essential part in the whole system, which should respond to the USB device request to the
9、 USB device timely, configurate the image sensor,and transmit the frame start flag to the host when the frame signal is active. On the basis of optimization of both hardware and software designs, this system achieves the
10、 transfer speed of 10fps with the resolution of 1280*1024, whose image is very clear and stable. Thereof, the preliminary goals can be obtained. Besides streaming device driver with USB interface han been developed in th
11、is system through which the users can be provided with a certain standard DirectShow interface. Consequently, users can develop the host application programs by the use of DirectShow’s SDK. Key Words:USB2.0 Digital Cam
