4、stungstenofdiameter0.05–0.3mmwhichiscapableofachievingverysmallcnerradii.Thewireiskeptintensionusingamechanicaltensioningdevicereducingthetendencyofproducinginaccurateparts.DuringtheWEDMprocessthematerialiserodedaheadoft
5、hewirethereisnodirectcontactbetweenthewkpiecethewireeliminatingthemechanicalstressesduringmachining.InadditiontheWEDMprocessisabletomachineexotichighstrengthtemperatureresistive(HSTR)materialseliminatethegeometricalchang
6、esoccurringinthemachiningofheattreatedsteels.WEDMwasfirstintroducedtothemanufacturingindustryinthelate1960s.ThedevelopmentoftheprocesswastheresultofseekingatechniquetoreplacethemachinedelectrodeusedinEDM.In1974D.H.Dulebo
7、hnappliedtheopticallinefollowersystemtoautomaticallycontroltheshapeofthecomponenttobemachinedbytheWEDMprocess[1].By1975itspopularitywasrapidlyincreasingastheprocessitscapabilitieswerebetterunderstoodbytheindustry[2].Itwa
8、sonlytowardstheendofthe1970swhencomputernumericalcontrol(CNC)systemwasinitiatedintoWEDMthatbroughtaboutamajevolutionofthemachiningprocess.AsaresultthebroadcapabilitiesoftheWEDMprocesswereextensivelyexploitedfanythroughho
