1、約翰·馮·奧斯汀雕塑方案john van alstine,,s c u l p t u r e p r o p o s a lBEIJING OLYMPIC PARKJohn Van AlstineFebruary 2006/美國(guó),團(tuán)結(jié)之圓——恒久的循環(huán) RINGS OF UNITY - CIRCLES OF INCLUSION,,我的雕塑方案源于奧林匹克運(yùn)動(dòng)最基本的理念。奧林匹克運(yùn)動(dòng)是全球的盛會(huì)
2、,來(lái)自全世界的運(yùn)動(dòng)員聚集在一起,在發(fā)揚(yáng)競(jìng)技精神的同時(shí),也促進(jìn)文化理解與交流。,My proposal is based on the most fundamental ideals of the Olympic games: That they are universal, bringing athletes from the entire world together to promote athletic excellence
3、 while furthering cultural understanding and exchange.,Each of the five Olympic rings is a different color. Together, they represent the five inhabited continents, although no particular ring is meant to represent any s
4、pecific continent. (The Americas are treated as one continent.) The rings are interlaced to represent the idea that the Olympics are universal, bringing together athletes from across the globe. The Olympic flag places
5、 the Olympic rings on a white background. As every national flag in the world contains at least one of the flag's six colors (black, blue, green, red, yellow, white), further symbolizes the universality of the Olymp

8、ot; sculptures made of metal (bronze or steel) combined with stone, similar to the maquettes illustrated. Each individual work would incorporate a stone from one of the five contentment as the central element in the scu

10、se sculptures in the Beijing Olympic Park would be critical and would be coordinated with the site planners and the landscape design team. Ideally I would like to place them through out the park in a large expansive, ove
11、r aching ring or circle pattern thus further emphasizing the symbolism of the interlaced and inter-connected Olympic rings. Another interesting possibility would be to use the principles of Feng Shui to capitalize on th
12、e earth's environmental energy lines, aligning the sculptures in balance and in peaceful harmony with the forces of nature thus again further underscoring Olympic ideals.在奧林匹克公園的設(shè)置方式是本方案的關(guān)鍵,須由作品安裝規(guī)劃者與景觀設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)協(xié)作進(jìn)行。理想的

14、環(huán)一石,I believe that the power and important symbolic nature of the ring sculptures could also be successfully conveyed in one monumental "circular" stone and metal sculpture similar to the maquette illustrated.
15、As mentioned above the location of this work with in the Olympic park would be very important, perhaps considering Feng Shui again for alignment.我相信,“圓環(huán)雕塑”的力量與極具象征性的特征應(yīng)當(dāng)也能成功地在一個(gè)大型金屬圓環(huán)及石頭中得到體現(xiàn),如圖中模型所示。此方案中作品在奧林匹克公園中的設(shè)置亦

17、重新審視 科林斯王”,As the Olympics have there origin in ancient Greece so does one aspect of my proposal. The "RINGS OF UNITY - CIRCLES OF INCLUSION" are extensions of my recent sculptural series entitled "Sisyphe
18、an Circles". The central idea is based on the Greek methodical character Sisyphus who was forced to roll a large stone up a steep hill, which tumbles back down when it reaches the top. The process is never ending, l
19、asting all eternity. Albert Camus, the French existentialist writer in his essay "Reconsidering Sisyphus" used this myth to illustrate his idea that reaching one final destination is not always the most import

22、s can not all win the gold metals, and this indeed is not ultimately the most important goal. It is rather their journey, their endless days and years of training, their personal struggle to do their best - it is this
23、personal triumph coupled with a greater understanding of other people and cultures, that in the end, is the paramount Olympic victory and is beautifully symbolized in the proposed sculptures and there interconnected plac
24、ement with in the park.同樣地,并不是每一個(gè)奧林匹克運(yùn)動(dòng)員都能贏得金牌,這實(shí)在也不是終極的目標(biāo)。而他們的奮斗過(guò)程,日復(fù)一日、年復(fù)一年的訓(xùn)練,為突破自我而進(jìn)行的頑強(qiáng)拼搏……只有這屬于個(gè)體的成功,伴隨著對(duì)其他民族與文化的理解,才是奧林匹克的勝利,當(dāng)在此方案中的雕塑與奧林匹克公園完美結(jié)合的時(shí)候,這個(gè)主題就得到了美妙的體現(xiàn)。古希臘是奧林匹克的發(fā)源地,因此我的方案也與希臘有關(guān)。方案《團(tuán)結(jié)之圓——恒久的循環(huán)》是我最近的系
