4、es between Japan and Europe, but how Japanese adapt to the develop trend of world modern design and make an agreement on the theory and form of design? If we want to inquire into this question, then we have to research t

5、he traditional culture of Japanese. Only do it like this, we can find out the clue of the position of Japanese design today. This is just the core problem which discussed in this paper. The most difficult things to resea

6、rch foreign culture just the lack of direct experiences. So I spend one month go to Japan to make an investigation except reading the relevant documents. In the process of integration of materials, I make a conclusion li

7、ke this, it just the form of Japanese design affected greatly by a traditional ideology named “thrifty”. And this ideology not only demonstrated in the form of design, but also appeared in the everywhere from the history

8、 to modern time. “Thrifty” produced in a certain condition of nature and history, but the first time as a philosophy ethics claimed just since the merchant philosopher Ishida Baigan’s Sekimon Shingaku in Tokugawa period.

9、 There are two cores in Sekimon Shingaku. One is “integrity”, which makes a great influence to the Japanese attitude of working and living. The other one is “thrifty”, which reflected in the wholly Japanese society. In a

10、cademia, some scholars raise the point of Ishida Baigan is one of the two philosophers who create Japanese spirit. Even some people think Sekimon Shingaku have a great influence to the essence of Japanese capitalism. I t
